Hudson Secures New Contract at Norfolk International Airport, Expanding Its Portfolio of Hybrid Concepts

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (May 27, 2026) – Hudson, part of global travel retail and food & beverage player Avolta AG (SIX: AVOL), announced today it won a new 12-year contract at Norfolk International Airport (ORF) as the airport undergoes its largest modernization in over 50 years. Under the agreement, Hudson will introduce four innovative hybrid concepts that seamlessly blend travel retail with food & beverage, each thoughtfully curated to reflect the distinctive culture and flavors of coastal Virginia and northeast North Carolina.

Hudson will redevelop more than 2,150 square feet of existing concessions space and over 3,500 square feet of new space across Concourses A and B and pre-security, transforming the passenger experience for millions of travelers at ORF.

  • Mermaid Landing: A shop inspired by the ocean-loving culture of Virginia Beach, the Outer Banks, and Norfolk’s popular mermaid icon, Mermaid Landing will offer apparel, accessories, local products, travel essentials, and beverages from local coffee roaster Pinup Coffee Co.

  • Explore Virginia: Offering locally made gifts, artisan snacks, regional accessories, and travel essentials, Explore Virginia will capture the creative spirit of the Commonwealth through the makers and flavors that define it.

  • Hudson: As North America’s largest travel essentials and convenience brand designed with a seamless customer experience at its core, Hudson offers snacks and beverages, travel and convenience necessities, local souvenirs, electronics, books, magazines, and more. At Hudson’s ORF store, travelers will also be able to enjoy beverages from Town Center Cold Pressed, serving locally roasted coffee and cold-pressed juices.

  • Hampton Roads Market: At the heart of Hampton Roads Market lies a tribute to the Chesapeake Bay region’s proud naval legacy. A shop-in-shop will showcase exclusive merchandise that will give travelers a chance to take home a piece of maritime history. An adjoining full-service Dunkin’ will help fuel visitors to ORF morning, afternoon, and night.

  • Port Provisions: This automated retail hub will offer travelers a one-stop-shop for hot and cold food and beverages.

“We’re tremendously proud of the retail program we created for Norfolk International Airport. It not only expands our portfolio of innovative hybrid concepts, but also — and very importantly — champions numerous small businesses founded and operated by veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, a community that’s integral to the heart and identity of Norfolk. Supporting their businesses is a privilege and reflects our dedication to local partnership,” said Steve Johnson, President and CEO, North America, Avolta. “We appreciate that Norfolk Airport Authority selected Hudson for this opportunity to revolutionize the travel experience at ORF.”

“Travelers want convenience, selection and the chance to discover items that will complement their journey, whether that's a preflight snack, something to read, or a souvenir that perfectly reflects their time spent here in Hampton Roads,” said Mark Perryman, President and CEO of the Norfolk Airport Authority. “Hudson has taken a thoughtful approach to developing its latest retail and food & beverage lineup at ORF, and its upcoming shops and eateries unquestionably reflect Coastal Virginia in a manner we know our guests will appreciate.”

Digital engagement will be an essential part of the new shopping experience, with in-store technology such as self-checkout allowing for greater convenience and speed. Travelers will also be able to enjoy all the benefits of the Club Avolta loyalty program, gaining access to exclusive offers, rewards, and cross-promotions.

As the major airport serving coastal Virginia and northeast North Carolina, ORF served nearly 5 million passengers and more than 86,000 flight operations in 2025. Skytrax, whose annual ratings are a global benchmark of airport standards, has awarded its 4-Star Regional Airport rating for two consecutive years, and honored ORF as the best in North America (No. 4 worldwide) on its 2025 ranking of the World’s Best Domestic Airports.

Hudson will operate the new locations with four small business partners: Nia Corporation (Rosa R. and Hugo A. Owens, Jr.), FDY, Inc. (Najla and Keith Haywood), Holt Hospitality (Kevin Holt), and Evolve Vending (Valentina Ellison).
