In the middle of Stanley Park, right next door bustling Vancouver, is the Vancouver Aquarium, one of Canada's finest and one of the five largest in North America. Boasting the country's largest aquatic-life exhibit, the Aquarium is a favored destination for visitors and natives alike.
Mighty Sea Lions, and Beluga whales cohabitate side-by-side with friendly dolphins, frolicking seals and those natural clowns, the sea otters.
The Aquarium gift shop, called the Clamshell, is one of the facility's top attractions.
Our proposed Vancouver Aquarium store at YVR will feature some of the same merchandise sold at the Clamshell, giving travelers access to some of the most popular souvenir items available from the aquarium – even if they didn't get a chance to visit in person on this particular trip.
Research and Conservation
The mission of the Vancouver Aquarium's Marine Science Centre is to conserve aquatic life through display and interpretation, education, research and direct action. Aquarium staff and volunteers have been involved in the creation of Canada's first no-take marine protected area, beach clean-ups, wetlands restorations, wildlife rescue and rehabilitations, and population surveys of marine mammals and intertidal fishes.
This vital mission will receive a tremendous public relations boost by its presence in YVR. Thousands of people passing through the terminal will be exposed to the serious as well as the fun elements of this remarkable institution.
Whether it is a Vancouver Aquarium jacket or T-shirt, a huggable sea otter plush toy, a charming dolphin scatter pin or some other fishy treasure, this bright and inviting space will bring some of the best of the great outdoors inside the Domestic Terminal of YVR.
