East Rutherford, NJ – April 29, 2009 – Travel retailer Hudson Group and its partners have been awarded an extension of their current contract at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS).
The Clark County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the airport staff recommendation to extend the lease to 2020. The lease includes 22 newsstands and specialty retail shops, encompassing some 20,000 sq. ft. of retail space. Hudson began operations in the airport in 2003.
"We are thrilled to be able to continue our partnership with McCarran's award-winning concessions team, and to be part of the airport's ongoing growth and development," said Joseph DiDomizio, president and chief executive officer, Hudson Group. "Ours is a great working relationship, and we appreciate the business-minded approach the McCarran team demonstrates every day. We are glad for the opportunity to continue our history of service to the airport, where we have invested significantly to create a unique and genuine travel shopping experience, anchored by Hudson News, North America's only national newsstand brand. Our ongoing goal in LAS is to continue to maximize customer service, revenue and rent to the airport and the County."
According to Randall H. Walker, Clark County aviation director, providing excellence in customer service is a priority at McCarran International, the nation's seventh-busiest airport. With that in mind, Walker stated, "Hudson knows the importance of customer service. As one of the largest newsstand operators in North America, Hudson utilizes the latest in marketing trends and provides an array of book titles, magazines and other goods that customers want in Las Vegas."
