October 26, 2016 – East Rutherford, N.J. – Hudson Group, the largest travel retailer in North America and the largest concessionaire at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), announced the official grand opening of seven new stores at LAX, Terminal 6; Sunset News (travel essentials), Los Angeles Magazine News (travel essentials), MAC (global beauty brand), M.Fredric (Southern California-based apparel and accessories boutique), Access Hollywood (travel essentials), Market 8600 (travel essentials), and Belkin (electronics accessories).

The new stores coincide with the renovation of Terminal 6 by partners Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and Westfield. It includes a redesign that reflects L.A.’s iconic Sunset Boulevard along with 21 new dining and retail destinations.

“We’re raising the bar for what’s possible at an airport,” said LAWA Chief Executive Officer Deborah Flint. “LAWA and Hudson Group are providing passengers a special experience that allows them to sample the best of L.A., food and drink, unique shops, and modern amenities. Now travelers can find all that and more in Terminal 6.”

“Hudson Group and Dufry are proud of the latest improvements at LAX Terminal 6, which will further transform the travel experience for airport customers in L.A.,” said Michael Mullaney, Hudson Group Executive Vice President of Business Development and Strategy. “The new luxurious destination features thoughtful concepts, local perspectives, and well-known brands. As the largest concessionaire at LAX with more than 47 stores, we could not be more excited to offer our traveler’s best friend philosophy to customers at one of the country’s busiest airports.”

For instance, the Belkin store marks a milestone as the brand’s first foray into retail at an airport. Belkin has been a part of the Los Angeles business community for more than 30 years. The store features a charging station and the Belkin line of must-have tablet and smartphone accessories like chargers and cables, screen protectors, and more, to ensure that no one has to board a flight without a fully charged and protected device.

“Great customer experience and drive sales—that’s what’s happening in the new terminal,” said Brandon Levell, Hudson Group General Manager at LAX. “In partnership with LAWA and Westfield, we’ve created a whole new journey.”

Additional details on the stores include:
Sunset News: Sunset News is a contemporary travel essentials store that brings a little known, but key piece of California history right to Terminal 6. A leading lifestyle publication in today’s market, Sunset Magazine’s purpose was to change the unflattering perception of California as being the “Wild West,” introducing readers to the many great things the state had to offer. Sunset News not only broke the Wild West image, it grew to become the premier information source for those who love the contemporary Western lifestyle—particularly Californian style.

Belkin: For nearly 30 years, Belkin has created the products that connect people and the digital experiences they love. The Belkin award-winning product lines include Valet™ Charge Dock for Apple Watch and iPhone, QODE ™ keyboards, and a broad range of cable and power products. Their offerings are designed to create a personal, efficient, and enjoyable experience for people who use technology, whether at home, school, work, or on the go. From wireless home networking and entertainment, to mobile accessories, energy management to an extensive range of cables, Belkin has built its reputation on quality digital devices and accessories.

Los Angeles Magazine News: The magazine’s rich history and continued strong presence as an L.A. staple translates into a star-quality travel essentials store for Terminal 6. Located just beyond the Zone 4 Garden Terrace, and right before passengers reach the Beach glow of Zone 5, Los Angeles Magazine News is the ideal brand to pull these final disparate terminal neighborhoods together.

MAC: MAC, global beauty brand, is visually stunning, bringing the rich opulence and glamour of Los Angeles right to Terminal 6. Passengers are treated to a completely unimpeded view into the store as they progress the terminal. Light colors, white cladding and delicate lattice textures draw the eye, creating a dramatic stage for the brand’s signature black fixtures and design elements.

M.Frederic: M.Fredric is an iconic family-owned L.A. brand known for trend-setting fashion apparel and accessories, often worn by celebrities and seen in the pages of leading fashion magazines. Wood, brick, and stone build on the drama of this eclectic space, creating the weathered, warm ambiance of street-side M.Frederic stores.

Access Hollywood: A full-service travel essentials store, Access Hollywood is a remarkable combination of news, convenience, and necessities, all rolled into a single one-stop-shop. Just as viewers tune in for all the latest entertainment news, customers will flock to Access Hollywood for an L.A. experience unlike no other.

Market 8600: Market 8600 is a core travel essential store that has been continuously refined by Hudson Group over many years from experience in the Hudson News shops. The store, which has a well-orchestrated design that enhances the appearance of the concession program and reflects L.A. in its theming, has a mix of products that is requested by airport travelers.
